The Meow Mosaic is the first website to fully utilize Picture Mosaics' new online Interactive Mosaic Platform 3.0, just on its heels is the launch of Platform 4.0 which will revolutionize how we share and interact with photos.
You may ask what is the Interactive Mosaic Platform 3.0? What will be in Platform 4.0? This page serves as preview of features to be included in our latest interactive mosaic platform. Our new 4.0 platform will contain all of the features and options that were part of platform 2.0 and 3.0. Below is a list of this original feature set and featues to be included in the the new 4.0 Platform:
Carried over from Interactive Mosaic Platform 2.0 & 3.0:
- Cutting edge algorithms for color and shape analysis for optimal photo placement into the mosaic
- Periodic updates: daily, weekly, etc
- Amazing mosaic viewer navigation and improved speed
- Dynamic side bar information regarding selected photo [improvements carried over from Platform 2.0]
- Improved search-ability including keyword, email, and photo id
- Share this photo: when exploring the mosaic a user can share the selected photo by sending a direct link to the photo within the mosaic. Sharing via Facebook, Twitter, email, and other social networking or photo sharing sites
- Enlarge photo: Once a user has selected a photo at that particular mosaics 100% zoom level, he or she the option to enlarge the photo at a higher resolution.
- Photo Tour Mode: an auto guided tour that is created when more than one photo exists for a keyword or email search
- Tunneling effect on direct links and searches to take user from full view to photo of interest
- Mobile MMS photo submission option
- User photo rating system: advanced "on-the-fly" photo rating system while exploring the mosaic.
- User comment system: allows users "on-the-fly" to post comments about a particular photo (built in anti-spam measures). User that submitted the photo is notified of any comment posts
- Blue-print like background for unfilled parts of the mosaic. The option still exists for the mosaic to be entirely filled with photos (by repeating photos). As new photos are submitted, duplicates will be removed and replaced
- View Photo: when exploring the mosaic, see a higher resolution version of the selected photo
- Mosaic Chatter Feed with RSS support: a click-able list of all recent comments posted about photos in mosaic
- User registration, login, and profiles [deprecated in favor of Facebook profile login]
- Advanced upload/photo submission with online cropping tool
- Social linking and networking (Facebook and Twitter) from within the mosaic to share the mosaic as a whole or a particular photo.
- Custom scrollable story fields for long user entries
- Profile photo links: On a users profile page, a list of all photos submitted with direct links to each and a direct link to a photo tour of all photos submitted by that user [deprecated in favor of Facebook profile linking]
- Top photos list based on hits, rankings and number of comments
- CMS (content management system) compatible
Main features targeted for Platform 4.0 include the following (slated for September 2010):
- Facebook connect login: This will allow an easier way for users to login, share stories, add comments and ratings
- Improved photo upload flow with inclusion of Facebook connect to allow users to select photos from his or her albums or select photos from their personal computer.
- The mosaic viewer will take advantage of the full browser window which will “on-the-fly” sizable depending on the user’s browser window or allowed space within an iframe or parent window [see
- Photo to Facebook profile linking
- Photo comments can be posted to your Facebook Wall/News Feed in additional to being posting within the mosaic
- Dynamic search and info bars that slide to hide/appear over the mosaic. Smart auto-hide and auto-appear based on user interactivity and function.
- Faster interactivity (searching and clicking) and optimized code for decreasing server load.
